Tri-State Modelers

Learn to Fly with the Tri State Modelers

Do you want to learn to fly a Radio Controlled (R/C) airplane?   If so, you are not alone.    First and foremost, we recommend training by an experienced R/C pilot regardless of your background in aviation.    Even if you fly the real thing commercially or privately, you are no longer "in the seat" and need to learn a new way of flying.      The problem is one of orientation ... when the airplane passes from your right to your left, when the wing closest to you drops, it is the LEFT wing ... but when passing left to right, the closest wing is the RIGHT wing!     And, depending on the speed of the aircraft, things can happen very quickly!
We highly recommend the use of any of the newer computer based training programs.    They have vastly improved in the past few years and are quite effective.

We offer guidance in all phases of the hobby.

Equipment

We offer guidance in your choosing of your first airplane, radio system, and the associated support equipment

Flying the first time

We will fly your new airplane for the first time, get it trimmed and flying correctly, THEN let YOU start having fun under our tutelage.

Building and Repair

We offer building assistance and advice. And we will thoroughly check out your completed project BEFORE its first flight

Club Trainer

As an alternative, we have a club trainer which you can fly until your own airplane is completed, or just to see if this hobby is for you.
